TEHRAN -- The director of the 28th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), Seyyed Abbas Salehi, has said that Iran is highly regarding the international dimension of the event.

“The number of the international publishers displaying their latest offerings at the book fair has increased this year,” he stated during a press conference in Tehran on Monday.

“The participation of the foreign publishers is no more symbolic and establishing a connection between Iran’s publishing industry and the world will prepare the ground for the exchange of knowledge and skills,” he added.

The TIBF organizers have selected the motto of “Reading, Dialogue with the World” for the 28th edition of the exhibition, which opens at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla today evening.

Oman will be the guest of honor at this year’s fair, which has also invited a number of foreign officials, intellectuals and literary figures.

The culture ministers of Qatar and Bangladesh, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq have officially been invited to the event.

Over 60 foreign international publishers from across the world are scheduled to display their latest offerings at the TIBF.
